Areas of Practice and Relevant Experience:

From 1974 to July 1986, Mr. Davison was an attorney with the Kalamazoo County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Kalamazoo, Michigan.  During his tenure he was in charge of the Intake/Warrant Division and plea negotiations for the office, Chief of the District Court Division, Chief Trial Attorney in charge of the Criminal Trial Division, and Chief of the Special Prosecutions Division.  While with the Prosecutor’s Office, he litigated every type of case from District Court misdemeanors to multiple murder cases.  Administratively, he was responsible for all plea negotiations for the office and for an eleven person felony trial staff.  He was also a legislative resource person in the area of criminal law topics, having testified before committees of the Michigan State Legislature.  In addition to his duties as Assistant Prosecutor, Mr. Davison taught Business Law and various criminal law and procedure classes at Kalamazoo Valley Community College.

In 1986, Mr. Davison left the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and joined the law firm of Denenberg, Tuffley & Jamieson, P.C. where he became a shareholder in 1990.  His practice involved all aspects of property insurance law, including arson/fraud, personal injury, lead paint contamination, professional errors and omissions, and dram shop defense litigation.  He conducted seminars on various insurance topics to insurance companies and associations and is an instructor for the Michigan State Police Fire Marshall’s Division, Advanced School for Origin and Cause Investigations.

In January 1994, Mr. Davison joined the Boston based law firm of Morrison, Mahoney & Miller, LLP in their Grand Rapids office.  In 1997, he became a partner in the firm and continued the same areas of practice as he had with Denenberg, Tuffley & Jamieson.  During his years in civil practice, Mr. Davison has litigated cases throughout the State of Michigan and in the States of Indiana, Iowa and Pennsylvania.  Mr. Davison joined the firm of Hopkins, Yeager & Smith, P.C. as a principle member in 2000.
